Who we help

WHO WE HELP

Giuse Orphan House was started by Father Dinh Minh Nhat, who rescued his first orphan in 2008 in a rainy night. The 2-day old newborn baby did not have a father, and therefore was about to be buried alive by the villagers with her mother who had just passed away. Father Nhat was able to borrow some money to buy a pig and alcohol, then convince the villagers to accept them in exchange for the life of the baby. He then brought her home and raised her as his own child. Since then, his home has grown to become an orphanage, taking in over 90 children who were either found abandoned in the forest, on the side streets, or brought to him by strangers.

Father Nhat is committed to providing safe shelter, food, clothing, and love to all the children, but undoubtedly he is concerned for their future as they grow up. Currently, he’s still taking care of them all by himself with occasional donated money from visitors and earnings from seasonal jobs. He hopes to find a way to equip the children with the ability to grow and be self-sufficient through higher education and training.
